MUMBAI: Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) crossed a major milestone in the September quarter, posting its highest-ever quarterly sales volume of 10 million cases as income from operations rose 15.8 per cent year on year to Rs 1,152 crore.

The spirits maker’s EBITDA increased 10 per cent to Rs 143 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) rose 9.7 per cent to Rs 69 crore. Sequentially, income from operations grew 17.1 per cent, EBITDA climbed 19.2 per cent and PAT increased 52 per cent.

However, EBITDA margin narrowed to 12.4 per cent from 13.1 per cent a year earlier, partly reflecting investments in its super-premium and luxury portfolio and the impact of global supply-chain disruptions.

Excluding the Rs 29 crore impact of these disruptions, ABD said its like-for-like EBITDA would have reached Rs 172 crore, up 32.3 per cent year on year, with a margin of 14.9 per cent. Like-for-like PAT would have been Rs 91 crore, an increase of 44.3 per cent.

For the first half of FY27, income from operations rose 10.9 per cent to Rs 2,135 crore, while EBITDA increased 5.8 per cent to Rs 263 crore. PAT declined 3.6 per cent to Rs 114 crore.

“Q2FY27 marked an important milestone for ABD, with quarterly volumes crossing 10 million cases for the first time,” said ABD managing director Amar Sinha. He added that the company expected topline momentum to continue through the festive season while focusing on operational efficiency and disciplined capital expenditure.

ABD’s quarterly sales volume increased 11.1 per cent to 10 million cases from nine million a year earlier. Its ICONiQ White whisky brand recorded volume growth of 20.6 per cent to 3.2 million cases.

The company continued to strengthen its premium portfolio, with prestige and above brands accounting for 58 per cent of sales value in H1 FY27, up from 56 per cent a year earlier. Their share of volume, however, eased to 46 per cent from 47 per cent.

In September, ABD launched The Indian Edit, a premium whisky blending Indian malt and grain spirits with Scotch malts. It is available in seven states, with the 750 ml pack priced at Rs 1,550 in Maharashtra. Officer’s Choice Blue also introduced refreshed packaging in four states.

ABD commissioned a bottling facility in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, in October, with an initial annual capacity of six million cases. The facility was acquired for around Rs 70 crore and subsequently upgraded with an investment of about Rs 40 crore.

The company also commissioned a malt distillery at Rangapur, Telangana, with an investment of around Rs 75 crore and annual capacity of four million bulk litres. The facility is expected to support its premium whisky portfolio and reduce reliance on external malt sourcing.

Internationally, ABD expanded its presence to 42 countries in Q2 FY27 from 36 in Q4 FY26. It also announced local production of Officer’s Choice Blue in Malaysia through a co-bottling arrangement.

Its subsidiary, ABD Maestro, which houses its super-premium and luxury portfolio, received several honours at the Spiritz Conclave & Achievers’ Awards 2026. RANGEELA Contemporary Indian Vodka won the Grand Gold medal in blind tasting, while YELLO Designer Whisky and AODH Irish Whiskey received Gold awards.

ABD said its focus remains on premiumisation, expanding international markets and strengthening manufacturing capabilities as it pursues further growth.
