MUMBAI: Airtel Payments Bank is making its numbers do the talking, and the latest quarter has plenty to say. The bank reported an 82 per cent year-on-year jump in net profit to Rs 19 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, while revenue increased 6.8 per cent to Rs 830.5 crore.

The quarterly performance takes the bank’s annualised revenue beyond Rs 3,300 crore, as it continues to expand across digital banking, payments, transit and rural banking.

Operating performance also strengthened, with EBITDA rising 31 per cent year-on-year to Rs 107.5 crore during the quarter.

Customer balances increased 17 per cent to Rs 4,389 crore, while monthly transacting users of savings bank accounts rose 23 per cent to 29.5 million. The bank’s annualised gross merchandise value (GMV) stood at Rs 4,523 billion in the first quarter.

Airtel Payments Bank said its Safe Second Account continued to gain adoption for routine digital transactions and recurring payments. It also retained its position as the second-largest player in UPI AutoPay mandates.

Transit payments remain another significant part of the business. The bank has issued more than 6.5 million National Common Mobility Cards, making it the second-largest issuer in the segment.

It said it processes around two-thirds of transit payments across the networks it supports.

The bank’s rural footprint is even broader. Its network includes more than five lakh active banking points, covering three in four villages. Airtel Payments Bank also accounts for one in four Aadhaar-enabled Payment System transactions, according to the bank.

The business extends beyond consumer payments, with Airtel Payments Bank offering current accounts, soundboxes and other digital payment solutions to merchants through its business-to-business payments operations.

The latest quarter therefore saw growth across several parts of the bank’s ecosystem, from customer balances and savings account activity to transit and merchant payments.

With Rs 19 crore in quarterly profit, Rs 830.5 crore in revenue and 29.5 million monthly transacting savings-account users, Airtel Payments Bank enters the rest of FY27 with its digital and rural banking businesses continuing to expand.
