MUMBAI: Calling time on one chapter and dialling into another, Siddharth Sharma has resigned from his role as CEO of Connected Homes and director of marketing at Bharti Airtel, with plans to join the Singtel Group.

The development was disclosed by Airtel in a regulatory filing on 19 June. The company said Sharma will cease to be part of its senior management team with effect from the close of business hours on 19 July 2026.

In his resignation letter addressed to Shashwat Sharma, Sharma said he had decided to pursue a new professional opportunity within the Singtel Group.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the position of CEO – Connected Homes and Director of Marketing, with effect from the close of business hours on July 19, 2026, as I have decided to pursue a new professional opportunity outside the organization in Singtel group,” Sharma wrote.

He also expressed gratitude for his tenure at Airtel, stating that it had been a privilege to contribute to the company’s growth and work alongside its leadership team and colleagues. Sharma added that he would continue in his current role until July 19 to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

The exit marks a significant leadership change for Airtel’s Connected Homes business, which oversees the company’s broadband and home connectivity operations. Sharma has also been responsible for Airtel’s marketing function, playing a key role in brand-building and customer engagement initiatives across the telecom major’s portfolio.

The disclosure was signed by Rohit Krishan Puri, who informed stock exchanges that the resignation falls under the company’s obligations relating to changes in senior management personnel.

The move also strengthens the long-standing link between Airtel and Singtel. The Singapore-based telecom group remains one of Airtel’s key strategic investors and has maintained a close association with the Indian telecom operator for years.

With Sharma set to move to Singtel, attention will now turn to Airtel’s succession plans for one of its most important consumer-facing businesses as competition intensifies across broadband, home connectivity and digital services.
