MUMBAI: Air India is giving young travellers a reason to look out the window a little more excitedly with the launch of Cloud Chasers, a new programme aimed at making flights more engaging and family-friendly for children.

The initiative brings together a range of child-focused experiences, from colourful onboard activity kits and personalised first-flight certificates to expanded entertainment options designed specifically for younger passengers.

As part of the launch, the airline has also introduced a playful new version of its iconic mascot, the Maharaja, who now appears as an adventurous travel companion guiding children through the Cloud Chasers universe.

The programme arrives as family travel continues to grow globally, with Air India noting that the segment expanded by 13 per cent between 2024 and 2025. The airline said the new offering is designed to make journeys smoother and more enjoyable for both children and parents.

Children aged between three and nine travelling on long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights lasting over eight hours will receive specially designed activity kits featuring puzzles, games, drawing prompts and travel-themed activities. The kits carry Cloud Chasers branding and feature the Maharaja’s new child-friendly avatar.

Air India has also refreshed its popular First Flight Certificate for young travellers taking to the skies for the first time. Signed by the captain and cabin crew, the redesigned certificate aims to turn a child’s first journey into a keepsake worth framing rather than simply boarding.

On the entertainment front, the airline is expanding its children’s content library through its Vista platform and Vista Stream service. Kids can now access more than 130 hours of curated content onboard, alongside games such as UNO, Angry Birds, Chess and Ludo Race.

The airline has also partnered with global content brands including Moonbug Entertainment and Red Bull TV, while audio storytelling platform Vobble will provide learning-based audio stories intended to reduce screen time for children during flights.

Air India chief customer experience officer Rajesh Dogra said the programme has been designed around what young travellers genuinely enjoy and need during air travel.

He added that Cloud Chasers represents the first phase of a broader long-term plan to improve the airline’s family travel experience, with more upgrades expected in the future.

Beyond entertainment, the programme also includes priority boarding for families with children, priority check-in assistance where possible, infant meals, bassinet seats on select flights and dedicated customer support for parents travelling with young flyers.

With summer holidays taking off, Air India appears keen to ensure that for children, the journey becomes just as memorable as the destination.
