Advertising strategist Shailesh Iyer passes away
Publicis Groupe Indonesia mourns former colleague and Groupe chief strategy officer
Jakarta: Publicis Groupe Indonesia announced the death of Shailesh Iyer, a former colleague who spent over five years with the group as its Groupe chief strategy officer, in a statement mourning his passing.
The group said Iyer had made a meaningful impact through his dedication, leadership and the relationships he built with those around him, adding that he would be remembered with great respect and gratitude by everyone who had worked alongside him. It offered its heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, friends and all those mourning the loss.
Iyer’s career spanned close to two decades across advertising and strategy, taking in stints at Ogilvy & Mather, Publicis, Leo Burnett, Publicis Groupe, VML and, most recently, ByteDance, where he served as head of agency and head of apps in Jakarta. Along the way he worked across categories from travel and tourism to banking, retail, telecom and consumer goods, and built strategy for brands including Cadbury, Samsung, Unilever’s Lux and Rexona, HSBC and Mondelez’s biscuits portfolio.
At Publicis Groupe Indonesia, colleagues remember him for building an integrated strategy practice that brought brand, digital, research and data teams under one roof, a legacy that outlasted his time there and one that the industry will not forget in a hurry.
May he rest in peace.
