Acer names Akshay Kumar as brand ambassador for House of Acer
Partnership marks Acer’s 50th global anniversary and 27 years in India as it expands into home tech
MUMBAI: Acer is bringing a little star power home. The technology company is set to welcome Akshay Kumar as its brand ambassador, as it expands beyond personal computing with its House of Acer ecosystem spanning technology and home appliances.
The partnership comes as Acer marks 50 years globally and 27 years in India, giving the brand a familiar face as it broadens its proposition from laptops and computing devices to products designed for the modern home.
House of Acer brings together Acer’s technology portfolio with Acerpure’s home appliances, including televisions, air conditioners, washing machines and other home solutions. The idea is to position these products not as isolated gadgets but as part of a wider connected-home experience aimed at making everyday life “smarter, easier and healthier”.
For Kumar, the association reflects a lifestyle in which technology increasingly sits alongside work, travel, fitness and family. The actor said he prefers technology that simplifies everyday routines rather than adding to them, making the House of Acer proposition a natural fit with how he uses technology at home.
The partnership also draws an obvious parallel between the actor and the brand: both have spent years evolving without losing their relevance. Kumar has moved across genres and generations, while Acer has expanded with changing consumer technology habits.
Harish Kohli, President & Managing Director, Acer India Group, said the company’s journey over 50 years globally and 27 years in India has been shaped by changing consumer needs, with technology now extending well beyond the desk.
He added that Kumar’s qualities of performance, discipline, reliability and constant evolution align with the brand’s next phase as it builds a broader technology ecosystem for the home.
For Acer, the appointment comes at a point when the traditional boundaries between personal technology and home technology are becoming increasingly blurred. The House of Acer proposition is designed around that convergence, bringing computing, entertainment, comfort and household appliances under one brand umbrella.
And with Kumar joining the house, Acer is betting that five decades of technology legacy can find a fresh audience through a personality who has managed something equally difficult — staying relevant while constantly changing the script.
