MUMBAI: Accor is checking in a hospitality veteran to steer its next phase of growth in India, appointing Deeppreet Bindra as director of ibis and ibis Styles India as the group looks to strengthen the two brands’ presence across the country.

In his new role, Bindra will oversee the strategic and operational performance of both brands, focusing on portfolio expansion, commercial growth, guest experience and team development. He will work with hotel teams and partners to improve performance across established markets while identifying opportunities in emerging destinations.

Bindra brings more than two decades of experience across the service and hospitality sectors, with expertise spanning hotel operations, sales, commercial performance, guest relations and people management. His career has included leadership roles at American Express, Kingfisher Airlines, The Oberoi Group and Marriott International.

Most recently, he held leadership positions at Marriott International, where he was responsible for hotel operations and commercial performance, while building teams focused on service delivery and business growth.

His industry contributions have earned several accolades, including General Manager of the Year in the Upper Upscale category at BW Hotelier 2026, General Manager of the Year at the FHRAI Annual Convention 2025 and Hotelier India 2022, and General Manager of the Year in Consumer Operations at the Marriott APEC Conference 2021.

Bindra’s appointment comes as Accor seeks to build on the distinct positioning of its two brands in India’s evolving travel market. While ibis focuses on accessible, reliable hospitality, ibis Styles differentiates itself through a design-led approach.

The group sees opportunities to serve growing demand from domestic travellers and business guests, with Bindra expected to strengthen commercial performance while maintaining consistent service standards across the portfolio.

“We are delighted to welcome Deeppreet to Accor and look forward to his leadership as we continue to strengthen ibis and ibis Styles in India,” said Accor India and South Asia vice-president of PME Vineet Mishra.

Mishra said Bindra’s experience in hotel operations, commercial performance and people leadership, combined with his industry track record, would support the brands’ next phase of growth. He added that the appointment was expected to create value for guests, hotel owners and partners.

Bindra said he was looking forward to building on the brands’ existing presence and distinctive market propositions.

His priorities, he said, would include improving business performance, delivering consistent guest experiences and working closely with teams and partners to drive sustainable growth.

With Bindra at the helm, Accor is looking to translate the appeal of its economy and midscale hospitality offerings into stronger business performance and a wider footprint. The challenge will be to scale the brands without losing sight of the guest experience that keeps travellers coming back.
