Three Indian originals crack Prime Video’s global top 10 in the platform’s first-ever weekly rankings
System lands at number two among films worldwide and tops the non-English film chart; Matka King and Exam also make the cut in the week of May 25 to 31
MUMBAI: Indian storytelling has arrived on the global stage, and Prime Video has the numbers to prove it. The streaming platform has published its first-ever weekly global rankings of the most-watched original series and films, and three Indian titles have muscled their way into the charts in the very first edition.
The standout is System, which has secured the number two spot on Prime Video’s top 10 films worldwide for the week of May 25 to 31, while simultaneously claiming the number one position among non-English Prime original films globally. That is not a regional achievement. That is a global one.
The Indian momentum does not stop there. Matka King has ranked seventh and Exam eighth among non-English Prime original series worldwide, two more titles from India holding their own in a fiercely competitive global viewing landscape.
The broader rankings place these Indian originals alongside some of the platform’s most-watched international properties, including Off Campus, Spider-Noir, The Boys, Citadel and Jack Ryan: Ghost War. The fact that System, Matka King and Exam are sharing chart space with those titles tells its own story about how far Indian content has travelled.
Prime Video has been building its Indian original slate aggressively, with titles such as Paatal Lok, Mirzapur, The Family Man, Farzi and Citadel: Honey Bunny already establishing a global following. The debut weekly rankings suggest that pipeline is now delivering at scale, not just for Indian audiences but for viewers far beyond the subcontinent.
For Indian producers, writers and directors, the message is unambiguous: local stories, told well, travel. For Prime Video’s rivals, the message is equally clear. India is no longer just a market to crack. It is a content factory that the world is watching.
