Spider-Noir wins five Emmys days after Prime Video cancellation
Nicolas Cage-starrer leads early Emmy awards with five wins despite Prime Video exit
MUMBAI: Talk about an award-winning exit. Just days after being cancelled, Spider-Noir has picked up five awards at the 2026 Emmys, giving the Nicolas Cage-led series a bittersweet victory.
The early Emmy awards were handed out over the weekend, ahead of the main Primetime Emmy ceremony. Spider-Noir emerged as one of the biggest winners, despite its cancellation by Prime Video and MGM after its first season.
The series had received 11 nominations, the highest number among Prime Video shows this year. It won for stunt coordination for comedy programming, sound editing for a one-hour comedy or drama series, title design, special visual effects in a single episode and cinematography for a series.
The timing made the wins particularly unusual. Speaking backstage, supervising stunt coordinator Freddy Bouciegues was asked whether the team hoped Prime Video could reconsider the cancellation.
“Tell me who to call, I’ll ask them,” he joked.
Starring Nicolas Cage, Spider-Noir follows Ben Reilly, a struggling private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his past after a personal tragedy. The character originally appeared in the animated Spider-Verse franchise before being brought to live action for the series.
With Spider-Noir dominating the early awards despite its cancellation, this year’s Emmys have already delivered a mix of celebration and poignancy before the main ceremony even begins.
