MUMBAI: Sony is giving its next big superhero game a suitably sharp makeover, with the claws coming out for the PlayStation 5. The company has unveiled a Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Digital Edition Bundle, along with themed console covers and DualSense controllers, ahead of Insomniac Games’ new title.

The limited-edition hardware will be available from 15 September, the same day as Marvel’s Wolverine. The design takes its cue from Logan’s classic yellow suit, with a Battle Yellow finish across the PS5 Digital Edition and accompanying controller. A claw-scratch motif runs across the hardware, while a roaring Wolverine features prominently on the upper section of the console.

The bundle includes the PS5 Digital Edition and matching DualSense controller, although Sony’s presentation of the console also shows a vertical stand that is not included with the bundle.

For gamers who want the Wolverine look without buying another console, Sony is also launching Battle Yellow console covers for both the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro, including versions for consoles with disc drives.

PS5 Pro owners get an additional Adamantium option, replacing the yellow finish with a silvery-white design inspired by Wolverine’s famed metal skeleton. A matching Adamantium DualSense controller will also be available.

The pricing puts the limited-edition range firmly in premium accessory territory. The Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow PS5 Digital Edition Bundle will cost $649.99 in the US, £569.99 in the UK, €649.99 in Europe and ¥96,980 in Japan.

The Battle Yellow DualSense controller will be priced at $84.99, £74.99, €84.99 and ¥12,480, while the Battle Yellow PS5 and PS5 Pro console covers will each cost $74.99, £64.99, €74.99 and ¥9,980.

The Adamantium PS5 Pro console cover will also cost $74.99 in the US and £64.99 in the UK, while the matching Adamantium DualSense controller will retail for $84.99, £74.99 and €84.99.

The products will be sold through the PlayStation Direct website where available and select retailers, with sales continuing while stocks last.

The launch has also reignited an ongoing debate around physical games and Sony’s future hardware strategy. Comments on the trailer have questioned why the Wolverine-themed console is being offered only as a Digital Edition, particularly amid criticism of Sony’s decision to move away from physical discs for new PS5 games from January 2028.

There is, however, a physical version of Marvel’s Wolverine itself. Insomniac Games has confirmed that the game will include a disc in the box, giving physical-media fans at least one reason to keep their claws sharpened.

For Sony, the Wolverine hardware push adds another layer to one of its biggest upcoming PlayStation releases, turning Logan’s yellow-and-blue comic-book identity into a limited-edition console range designed to make the game look as striking on the shelf as it does on screen.
