Saregama’s music business hits the right note with 39 per cent growth
Q1 music revenue rises to Rs 230.6 crore as live events soar 214 per cent
MUMBAI: Saregama isn’t just playing the hits, it is composing a growth playlist of its own. The RPSG Group company opened FY27 on a strong note, powered by robust growth in its music business, a booming live events portfolio and an expanding artiste management ecosystem, even as it continued to reshape its video strategy.
During the quarter ended 30 June 2026, Saregama’s music business generated revenue of Rs 230.6 crore, up 39 per cent year-on-year. Music EBITDA climbed 36 per cent to Rs 139.8 crore, while net margin from the segment rose 31 per cent to Rs 99.6 crore, underscoring the continued strength of its music catalogue and licensing business.
The company’s live events business emerged as the fastest-growing segment, with revenue surging 214 per cent year-on-year to Rs 16 crore. Growth was driven by a diversified portfolio spanning concerts, devotional programmes, experiential events and stand-up comedy shows.
The video business, which generated Rs 17 crore in revenue, reported a decline as Saregama continued its strategic shift away from producing films in-house and instead increased its investment in Bhansali Productions.
Operationally, the company maintained an aggressive content pipeline, releasing more than 750 film and non-film tracks across Hindi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada during the quarter. The releases collectively generated more than 250 million streams and views across Spotify and YouTube.
Among the notable releases were the Hindi film album Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam), which featured in Spotify’s Weekly Top 200 Albums (India), the Malayalam film album Athiradi, and the Marathi non-film hit Ved Lavla, featuring managed artiste Neel Salekar.
Saregama also strengthened its artiste management arm by adding 33 new artistes during the quarter, taking its roster to over 300 artistes with a combined digital reach exceeding 440 million followers.
The live entertainment portfolio expanded further with performances by personalities including Jaya Kishori, Manoj Muntashir, Backstage Sibling and Manhar Seth, reflecting the company’s strategy of broadening its event formats beyond mainstream concerts.
Brand collaborations also gained momentum during the quarter. Saregama partnered with companies including Visa, HUL, Myntra, Godrej and Bharat Matrimony for integrated marketing campaigns while continuing to monetise its music catalogue through projects such as the Hindi film Cocktail 2, Raakh on Amazon Prime Video and the Gujarati film Laalo.
The company’s digital presence also continued to expand, with its owned and managed channels now collectively reaching more than 680 million followers and subscribers across platforms including YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
The quarter’s performance reflects Saregama’s broader strategy of building an integrated entertainment ecosystem where music, live events, video and artiste management reinforce one another. With strong growth across its core music business and rapid momentum in live entertainment, the company appears to be broadening its revenue mix while strengthening the long-term value of its intellectual property portfolio.
