Prime Video sets September 25 premiere for Don’t Be Shy
Alia and Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine production stars four new faces
MUMBAI: Growing up is messy, and Don’t Be Shy seems ready to embrace every awkward bit of it. Prime Video has announced September 25, 2026 as the worldwide premiere date for its upcoming Prime Original Movie, Don’t Be Shy, a coming-of-age romantic comedy about friendship, young love, heartbreak and the uncertainty of finding your way into adulthood.
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under their banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, with Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani serving as co-producers.
The film introduces four young actors Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal in leading roles. The ensemble also features Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik in pivotal roles.
At the heart of Don’t Be Shy is the experience of being young and not quite having life figured out. The story brings together friendship, first love, heartbreak, dreams and the sometimes chaotic process of working out who you are.
For Prime Video, the film is also an opportunity to put a fresh set of faces at the centre of an original story. Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, described the film as a celebration of friendship, love and the journey of growing up.
Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt said the film explores the friendships, relationships and experiences that shape people during their formative years, while highlighting the energy and chemistry of its young cast.
Don’t Be Shy will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide from September 25, 2026.
With a new cast, a young-adult story and a global streaming rollout, Prime Video is betting that audiences will be willing to get a little shy, awkward and sentimental alongside its newest characters.
