MUMBAI: India’s indie gaming scene is getting its biggest global stage yet, and it is arriving with a high-score partnership. NODWIN Gaming and Nodding Heads Games have teamed up with Summer Game Fest to launch the inaugural India Games Showcase, a digital event designed to spotlight 40 homegrown indie titles for a worldwide audience.

Set to premiere on June 8, the showcase will feature curated trailers, gameplay reveals and announcements across genres, aiming to bring international visibility to India’s fast-growing independent game development ecosystem.

The event is an official partner showcase of Summer Game Fest, founded by Geoff Keighley, which brings together developers, publishers and players globally for major gaming announcements and discoveries. A dedicated Steam event will also run alongside the broadcast, allowing users to explore and wishlist participating titles.

At the heart of the initiative is a simple goal: to push Indian-made games beyond domestic audiences and into the global spotlight. While India’s game development community has expanded significantly over the past decade, many indie studios still struggle with international distribution and visibility.

The showcase is being led by Nodding Heads Games, best known for Raji: An Ancient Epic, the first Indian game to be nominated at The Game Awards in the Best Debut Game category.

Speaking on the launch, NODWIN Gaming co-founder and managing director Akshat Rathee said, “There is a raw, untapped creative energy in the Indian indie ecosystem right now that is completely unique. We are seeing developers blend world-class mechanics with incredibly rich, localized storytelling that the global gaming community hasn’t experienced before. We want to make sure that a brilliant game built in India doesn’t just stay a local secret, but gets the global eyeballs, distribution, and recognition it rightfully deserves.”

Nodding Heads Games co-founder and game director Avichal Singh said, “The debut of India Games Showcase proves that Indian indies are making strides as they arrive and make a presence internationally. The rise of quality and genre variety titles in recent years is very promising. Our partnership with the world’s biggest showcase, Summer Game Fest, is another mark of approval for the country. We’re excited for the times ahead.”

The initiative has also been shaped by a wider community of Indian developers who contributed time and expertise to build a dedicated platform for the country’s indie gaming ecosystem.

Among the first confirmed titles are Raahi by Kalp, a narrative-driven auto-rickshaw adventure set in 1990s Goa; Dodo Duckie by BornMonkie, a 2D-3D puzzle adventure; Loop: Beginning of Never Ending Journey by Pravin Nikam, a surreal exploration game; Rakshasa by Odd Compass Studio, inspired by Indian mythology; and Silkgrove by Gallic Entertainment, a cosy survival and exploration experience.

The India Games Showcase will stream on June 8 at 10 AM PT (10:30 PM IST) across YouTube and Twitch, marking a new milestone for India’s presence in the global gaming conversation.
