KOLKATA: Bengali storytelling is about to go national. Netflix and hoichoi are joining forces in a first-of-its-kind partnership that will take acclaimed series, new premieres and fresh adaptations from the Bengali-first platform to audiences across India, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The deal, announced in Mumbai on 22 October 2026, brings all hoichoi series premiering in the next two years to Netflix in the three languages, exclusively on the service. Netflix and hoichoi, the Bengali-first streaming platform and content studio, say the aim is to offer acclaimed series, new premieres, adaptations and fresh original stories.

The first batch is a curated collection of 14 titles. They include Madam Inspector, Sampurna, Lajja, Eken Sirji, Anjaan Saaye, The Curse of Parnashavari, Bloodlines, The Adventures of Daadi & Jagga, Raat Abhi Baaki Hain, Achinta: Trial By Law, Shaadi Ka Siyappa, Queens, Parineeta: A Love Story and Mahanagar. Spanning crime thrillers, detective mysteries, folklore horror, social and courtroom dramas, and romance, the line-up offers something for every mood.

New hoichoi releases will also land on Netflix in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu alongside their Bengali debut on hoichoi. First up is The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi, a folklore horror series starring Jeetu Kamal, Solanki Roy and Paoli Dam. It premieres on 6 November, with more titles to follow in the coming months.

The two platforms will also collaborate on original series, produced by hoichoi studios, that reimagine select hoichoi stories and bring fresh creative voices and perspectives to each adaptation. Further details will be announced soon.

For Netflix, the deal fits a wider pattern. It is committed to delivering quality, quantity and variety, and continues to complement its originals with a growing range of licensed content, bringing more third-party stories to the service in new ways. Its global audience of approaching one billion people, the companies say, makes it a strong partner for studios, networks and creators.

By bringing existing favourites to new viewers and developing original adaptations together, Netflix and hoichoi say they are opening up more possibilities for these stories and more worlds for audiences to discover.

Three things stand out. First, the reach. Hoichoi describes itself as the leading Bengali entertainment platform, with more than 2,000 hours of content, including over 100 original series, films, shorts and docu-series, and connects over 250 million Bengalis worldwide to their cultural roots. Putting its shows on Netflix in three more languages takes that library far beyond a Bengali audience.

Second, the structure. The deal covers not just a back catalogue but every hoichoi series premiering in the next two years, released on Netflix alongside the Bengali debut. That keeps Netflix’s pipeline supplied and gives hoichoi a route to viewers it could not easily reach alone.

Third, the ambition. Adaptations produced by hoichoi studios, which launched in 2023 as its theatrical film production wing, show the two sides want to build new stories together, not just license old ones. Hoichoi was launched in 2017 as the maiden venture of SVF’s new media arm and is spearheaded by co-founder Vishnu Mohta, who is also executive director of SVF. For Netflix, the partnership adds regional depth. For hoichoi, it adds scale.
