MUMBAI: Great stories deserve to travel and Meta wants language to stop being the barrier. Meta has rolled out a new set of features for its Edits video editing app, introducing auto-generated bilingual captions, enhanced reusable templates and fresh seasonal sound effects as it sharpens its focus on creators producing content for increasingly global audiences.

The biggest addition is auto-generated bilingual captions, which support 15 languages and allow creators to display subtitles in two languages simultaneously. The feature is designed to help users reach multilingual audiences without creating separate versions of the same video, a move that reflects the growing demand for globally accessible short-form content.

The update also aligns with Meta’s broader push to expand multilingual content across its ecosystem. Instagram, which is closely integrated with Edits, has been increasing translated content recommendations to help creators extend their reach beyond domestic audiences.

On the creative front, Meta has introduced a new library of seasonal sound effects, giving users additional audio options to produce videos around festive moments, seasonal trends and viral content.

Template creation has also received an upgrade. Creators can now build more versatile reusable templates with support for overlays and a new clip-locking feature. Locked clips remain fixed when other users reuse a template, preserving essential visual elements while allowing the rest of the video to be customised.

The latest release is part of Meta’s rapid expansion of the Edits platform, which has seen a steady stream of updates since its launch. As competition intensifies among creator tools and short-form video platforms, the company is steadily broadening the app’s capabilities with AI-powered features and collaborative editing options aimed at making content creation faster and more flexible.

With multilingual storytelling becoming increasingly important in the creator economy, Meta’s latest update signals that the race is no longer just about producing videos quickly—but about making them accessible to audiences wherever they are.
