Disney’s live action Tangled remake set for March 2028 release
Teagan Croft, Milo Manheim and Kathryn Hahn lead Disney’s latest remake
MUMBAI: Rapunzel is finally letting her hair down on the big screen, that is. Disney has confirmed that its live-action remake of Tangled will arrive in cinemas on 31 March 2028, giving the animated classic a new lease of life in its latest real-world makeover.
The announcement came during Disney’s D23 2026 presentation, where the studio also offered the first official look at the cast in character. Teagan Croft will play Rapunzel, Milo Manheim will portray Flynn Rider, while Kathryn Hahn takes on the role of the villainous Mother Gothel.
The release date puts the remake more than a year away, with Disney yet to reveal how significantly the new film will differ from the 2010 animated original.
The project has been brewing for some time, but momentum picked up following the success of Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch. Croft and Manheim were announced as the leads in January 2026, while Hahn was first reported to be in talks for Mother Gothel that month before her casting was confirmed in March.
D23 attendees were also shown the cast in costume, offering the first official glimpse of the live-action version. That followed behind-the-scenes images from the film’s shoot in Spain, which surfaced online last month and showed Croft and Manheim as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
The leaked production images also offered an early look at Patrick and Hugo McPherson, who play the remake’s versions of the Stabbington brothers.
Disney has not yet revealed further plot details or explained what creative changes audiences can expect from the live-action adaptation. For now, the studio is keeping the tower door firmly closed on those details.
But with its release locked for 31 March 2028, Rapunzel’s next big-screen adventure has officially moved from fan speculation to a date on Disney’s calendar.
