Chris Evans’ Sacrifice to premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play India on 16 October
Romain Gavras’ action-adventure comedy turns a glamorous charity gala into a hostage crisis
MUMBAI: A glittering charity gala turns into a fight for survival in Sacrifice, the action-adventure comedy starring Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy and Salma Hayek, which will premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India on 16 October 2026.
Directed by Romain Gavras, the film throws a gathering of celebrities, billionaires and other high-profile guests into chaos when a movie star is taken hostage by a radical warrior and her devoted followers. What begins as an evening of glamour and philanthropy quickly becomes a volatile test of faith, conviction and survival.
As the crisis unfolds, the film explores the uneasy divide between public image and personal belief, asking what people are prepared to give up when their carefully constructed worlds begin to crumble.
With Evans, Taylor-Joy and Hayek leading the ensemble, Sacrifice combines unexpected danger with sharp humour and an unconventional premise. The story uses the high-pressure setting of a charity gala to examine the meaning of sacrifice, challenging its characters to confront their beliefs when the stakes become personal.
The film’s mix of action, adventure and comedy places it at the intersection of celebrity culture and ideological conflict, with the hostage situation providing the catalyst for an increasingly unpredictable night.
Sacrifice will be available exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India from 16 October, adding a star-led international title to the platform’s October streaming line-up.
