VIENNA: As the streaming world continues to tune into wider device reach, Bitmovin is striking a new chord with Simplestream and Xperi. The three companies have partnered to help OTT services launch more easily on TiVo OS-powered smart TVs and connected devices.

The collaboration brings together Simplestream’s content management and application framework with Bitmovin’s video playback technology, creating a single integrated platform designed to simplify deployment for streaming providers.

The move is expected to make it easier for media companies, broadcasters and operators to expand their services to TiVo OS devices while maintaining a consistent viewing experience across screens. By reducing the need for multiple technology integrations, the platform aims to lower operational complexity and minimise deployment risks.

A key part of the partnership is the inclusion of TiVo OS within Bitmovin’s automated testing ecosystem. The company said its AI-driven testing platform analyses more than one million tests every week, helping identify playback issues and their root causes more quickly, with the goal of improving streaming reliability and quality.

The integrated solution also supports a range of monetisation options, including pre-roll and pause advertisements, while offering accessibility features intended to create a more inclusive viewing experience.

Speaking about the partnership, Simplestream technical director Ashley Reynolds-Horne said the collaboration would help simplify OTT delivery for customers while opening up new opportunities for growth.

“This collaboration represents an important step forward in simplifying and modernising OTT delivery for our customers,” Reynolds-Horne said. “By combining Simplestream’s end-to-end platform capabilities with Bitmovin’s proven playback technology, we’re enabling media companies and operators to deliver reliable, scalable streaming experiences while unlocking new opportunities for monetisation and service growth.”

Bitmovin senior director of product management James Varndell said support for TiVo OS would help streaming providers connect with a growing audience base.

“Video providers want their service to be accessible by as many viewers as possible, including those running TiVo OS, which is rapidly gaining traction,” Varndell said. “By extending support to include TiVo OS and collaborating with Simplestream to simplify launching on TiVo OS, we’re supporting customers to reach more viewers across a wider range of devices.”

Meanwhile, Xperi senior director, content partnerships and business development EMEA Stephane David said the partnership aligns with TiVo OS’s content-first strategy.

“TiVo OS is designed to put great content front and centre,” David said. “Collaborating with Bitmovin and Simplestream will help more streaming services to launch on TiVo OS with a high-quality, consistent playback experience, so audiences can find, watch and enjoy more of what they love.”

Developed by Xperi, TiVo OS is a content-focused operating system designed for smart TVs, set-top boxes and other connected TV devices. Bitmovin first added support for the platform in October 2025 as part of its broader effort to expand device compatibility.

As competition intensifies in the streaming sector, the partnership underscores a growing industry focus on making content available wherever audiences choose to watch. For OTT providers, that could mean fewer technical hurdles and a smoother path to new screens.
