MUMBAI: Bharti Hexacom dialled up the numbers this quarter, proving that stronger signals can also mean stronger earnings. Riding on healthy growth in its mobile business and an expanding homes and office services portfolio, the telecom operator delivered a solid set of first-quarter results, with both revenue and profit posting double-digit gains.

For the quarter ended 30 June 2026, Bharti Hexacom reported revenue from operations of Rs 2,509.9 crore, up from Rs 2,263 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income, including other income, rose to Rs 2,582 crore, compared with Rs 2,310.5 crore a year ago.

The company posted a profit after tax of Rs 482.4 crore, registering a 23.2 per cent year-on-year increase from Rs 391.6 crore. Profit before tax grew to Rs 653 crore from Rs 526.8 crore in the year-ago quarter, while earnings per share improved to Rs 9.65 from Rs 7.83.

Operating performance also remained robust. EBITDA before depreciation, amortisation, finance costs, exceptional items and tax stood at Rs 1,394.3 crore, up from Rs 1,208.2 crore in the corresponding period last year, reflecting continued operating leverage despite higher network investments.

The company’s largest revenue engine, mobile services, generated Rs 2,395.3 crore, compared with Rs 2,191.6 crore a year earlier. Segment profit before finance costs, charity, exceptional items and tax increased to Rs 782.8 crore from Rs 688.5 crore, underlining sustained momentum in its core wireless business.

The homes, office and other services segment continued to gather pace, with revenue surging to Rs 126.5 crore from Rs 78.4 crore in the year-ago period, highlighting growing traction in broadband and enterprise connectivity services. Although the segment remained modest in profitability, it swung close to break-even, reflecting improving scale.

On the cost front, network operating expenses rose to Rs 537.6 crore, while access charges increased to Rs 204.1 crore and licence and spectrum charges stood at Rs 230.3 crore, mirroring higher business volumes. Employee expenses climbed to Rs 26.8 crore, while sales and marketing expenditure moderated to Rs 90 crore from Rs 100.7 crore a year earlier.

The balance sheet also strengthened during the quarter. Total assets increased to Rs 19,860.5 crore from Rs 19,050.6 crore at the end of March, while other equity expanded to Rs 7,397.3 crore from Rs 6,915.2 crore, supported by higher retained earnings.

The audited results, approved by the board on 4 August 2026, indicate that Bharti Hexacom continues to benefit from rising telecom consumption and growing demand for broadband connectivity. With both its wireless and home services businesses expanding, the company has entered FY27 with strong operational momentum.
