BGMS Season 5 Playoffs begin with 16 teams chasing 10 Grand Final spots
Over 20 million views recorded as BGMS enters its final week with Rs 1 crore-plus at stake
MUMBAI: The chicken dinners are getting serious, and there is no room left for a side order of mistakes. The BGMI Masters Series (BGMS) Season 5 has entered its decisive Playoffs stage, with 16 teams battling from August 31 to September 2 for the remaining 10 spots in the Grand Finals and a Rs 1 crore-plus prize pool up for grabs.
After three weeks of competition, six teams have already punched their tickets to the championship round. iQOO Team Tamilas, Elite Nova Esports, iQOO SOUL, Nebula Esports, Gladiators Esports and IRIS MYTH have secured direct entry into the Grand Finals, leaving the rest to fight through a high-pressure three-day Playoffs.
The tournament has already generated sizeable numbers off the battlefield. BGMS Season 5 has crossed 20 million-plus total views, with peak concurrent viewership of more than 220,000, including watch parties. It has also clocked over 7 million watch hours, underlining the scale of India’s appetite for competitive BGMI.
At the top of the Super Weekend leaderboard, iQOO Team Tamilas finished with 460 points, earning its direct passage to the Grand Finals. Vasista Esports and Gladiators Esports share the tournament’s highest WWCD tally with 11 Winner Winner Chicken Dinners each.
The individual race is equally tight. Hydro of Team Apex Gaming leads the MVP standings with 198 eliminations, giving him another statistic to defend as the competition heads into its final stretch.
The Playoffs also bring an international edge to the domestic contest. iQOO Orangutan and GodLike Esports, who entered the BGMS Season 5 campaign during Super Weekend 1, return after competing at the Esports World Cup, where both secured places in the Grand Finals of the PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC).
Their international campaigns against some of the world’s strongest teams add another layer to a Playoffs field where every placement can change the qualification picture.
Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and Managing Director, NODWIN Gaming, said the quality of competition has been the defining feature of Season 5, with teams consistently pushing each other throughout the tournament. He also pointed to the international momentum around Indian esports, particularly the return of Orangutan and GodLike after their PMWC campaigns.
The Playoffs will feature six matches each day, with matches scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM IST. The top 10 teams will advance to the Grand Finals, scheduled for September 4 to 6, where they will compete for the BGMS Season 5 title and their share of the Rs 1 crore-plus prize pool.
The tournament is backed by TVS Motor Company as Mobility Partner and Red Bull as Energy Drink Partner. Fans can follow the action through NODWIN Gaming’s official broadcast platforms and KICK, while those wanting to watch the Grand Finals in person can buy tickets through OneApp and the BGMS ticketing platform.
With the schedule now down to its final six days of competition, the equation is simple: 16 teams enter the Playoffs, 10 survive, and six are already waiting in the final lobby.
