BGMI’s 5th anniversary update brings Naruto, Spider-Man and Ferrari
KRAFTON rolls out 4.5 update with 50,000 creator maps and 260 million players
MUMBAI: Talk about levelling up. Five years after bursting onto India’s gaming scene, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is celebrating its milestone by dropping what could be its biggest update yet—one that blends anime, superheroes, supercars and home-grown creator content into a single virtual playground.
KRAFTON India has rolled out the BGMI 5th Anniversary Edition 4.5 Update, bringing together three global franchises—Naruto, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Ferrari—in one season, alongside new creator-built experiences, India-themed collectibles and social features. The company said the update reflects its ambition to transform BGMI from a battle royale title into a broader entertainment and social platform.
The milestone comes as BGMI crosses 260 million players in India, with KRAFTON highlighting that more than 50,000 creators have built custom maps in WOW Mode, generating tens of millions of plays across the community.
The headline attraction is Naruto: Ninjas Assemble, which transforms Erangel and Livik into the Hidden Leaf Village, complete with Hokage Rock, Ichiraku Ramen and the Ninja Academy. Players can wield abilities such as Rasengan, Chidori and Flying Raijin Jutsu, take on multi-phase Kurama boss battles, and unlock Naruto-themed rewards, skins and lobby music. A separate Kurama Defense event also turns the entire server into a cooperative battle where players unite to defend the village.
Spider-Man swings into the battlegrounds on 30 July, introducing Web Swing, Spider Climb, Spider-Sense, Web Attack, the new Skyline Plaza combat zone, Peter Parker’s apartment and Aunt May’s grave. The collaboration has been timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, allowing fans to experience the character both in cinemas and in-game during the same week.
Luxury automobile brand Ferrari also makes its BGMI debut with drivable versions of the Roma, Purosangue, LaFerrari and SF90 XX Spider, alongside a Scuderia Ferrari HP Formula 1 display vehicle that players can interact with and photograph within the game.
Beyond licensed collaborations, KRAFTON has expanded the game’s creator ecosystem with new WOW Mode experiences, including Steal a Brain Rot and Shoot a Brain Rot, developed with DoBiG. The update also refreshes BGMI’s Card Collection System, introducing India-themed and Naruto-themed cards inspired by the nostalgia of collectible cricket trump cards.
Social features have also received a boost. Players can now schedule squad sessions up to seven days in advance using Team-Up Reservation, while new Private Squad controls allow greater privacy over matchmaking and team visibility.
The celebrations will continue throughout the season, with content rolling out in phases. Naruto Gold Spin launches on 19 July, Royale Pass A20 arrives on 23 July, Spider-Man joins on 30 July, Independence Day events begin from 2 August, and a major CarryMinati collaboration is scheduled for 15 August. The Ferrari event will conclude on 7 September.
With anime icons, superhero action, Italian performance cars and an expanding creator economy all sharing the same battleground, BGMI’s latest update signals KRAFTON’s push to make the game more than a place to compete—it wants it to become a platform where India’s gaming community creates, connects and keeps coming back.
