BGMI: Naye Khiladi enters semifinals as India’s top 32 teams chase grand finals berth
Over 8,000 players narrowed to 32 teams as grassroots BGMI tournament enters decisive stage
NEW DELHI: The battle bus is getting lighter. After weeks of intense competition, BGMI: NAYE KHILADI, the grassroots esports tournament organised by NODWIN Gaming and powered by KRAFTON India, has reached the semifinals, with the country’s top 32 teams now competing for a place in the grand finals.
The semifinals will run from July 18 to July 21, with the remaining teams divided into four groups of eight. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the next stage as the tournament moves closer to crowning its first champion.
The competition began with more than 8,000 registered players, who entered through BGMI’s in-game qualification system. From there, the field was narrowed to the top 1,024 teams based on their performances in Classic Ranked matches.
The tournament then progressed through multiple elimination rounds. Round 1 featured 1,024 teams across 64 groups, before shrinking to 256 teams across 16 groups in Round 2. Only the top two teams from each group advanced, leaving the final 32 teams to battle it out in the semifinals.
The four semifinal groups are:
Group A: HEXVORA, Team Obsidian, Team H4K, Autobotz Esports, ESPORT SOCIAL, SUSPICIOUS7H, TEAM ASCEND and iQOO8BIT.
Group B: Aura X Esports, Troy Tamilan Esports, Oishani Esports, 7Gods Esports, OR OFFICIAL, TEAM ACS, TeamRedXross and TEAM ERA ESPORTS.
Group C: Raspators Esports, DCxSCR Esports, JMS ESPORTS, WINDGOD ESPORTS, REIGNITE ESPORTS, Lords Official, 4 MECHANICAL GODS and Team Free Agents.
Group D: WHITE RAVEN, BLD Esports, Zero Ark Official, K9Esports, Prominence Esports, X4RCE, THUNDER GODS ESPORTS and Santa Godsent.
Across the four-day semifinal stage, teams will play six matches each day, with only the best-performing sides progressing. The tournament will ultimately narrow to the Top 16 teams, who will compete in the grand finals for a share of the Rs 10 lakh prize pool and the BGMI: NAYE KHILADI title.
Commenting on the tournament, NODWIN Gaming co-founder and CEO Gautam Virk said the tournament was created to give aspiring players a genuine opportunity to compete, gain recognition and begin their journey towards professional esports. He added that the quality of competition so far reflects the growing depth of talent within India’s BGMI community.
