Amazon Music to livestream Fuji Rock Festival in India for first time

MUMBAI: No passport? No problem. This July, India’s music lovers can swap airport queues for app queues as one of Asia’s biggest music festivals streams straight to their screens.

Amazon Music has announced that it will exclusively livestream Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival to audiences in India for the first time, bringing the iconic three-day event to the Amazon Music India app from 24 to 26 July.

The initiative will allow Indian viewers to watch performances live from the festival’s main stages, broadcasting directly from the scenic Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

Held annually since 1997, Fuji Rock Festival has grown into one of Asia’s largest and most celebrated outdoor music events, drawing global audiences with a diverse line-up spanning rock, electronic, indie and world music. Its picturesque mountain setting has become as much a part of the festival’s identity as its performances.

Through the livestream, Amazon Music aims to give Indian audiences a front-row experience of the festival, enabling fans to tune into performances from both international and Japanese artists without leaving home.

The livestream will be prominently featured on the Amazon Music India app throughout the festival. While the complete performance schedule and artist line-up are yet to be announced, Amazon said further details will be shared closer to the event.

Importantly, access to the livestream will not be restricted to Prime subscribers. It will be available to all Amazon account holders, widening access to one of Asia’s biggest live music events.

The move reflects the growing appetite for live music streaming in India as digital platforms increasingly look beyond traditional audio services to offer exclusive concerts, festivals and immersive entertainment experiences for audiences.
