MAGGI’s Togetherness Table makes invisible emotional distance visible
The Nestlé India brand’s social experiment brings together parents and children, couples and siblings to show that spending time together is what keeps us close
GURUGRAM: Everyone is connected, and yet many of us have never been further apart. Messages are instant. Calendars are synced. Updates are a tap away. And still, between work, studies, commutes and screens, some of our closest relationships quietly slip into the background. To explore this shift, MAGGI brought together parents and children, couples and siblings for The Togetherness Table, a social experiment designed to reveal how emotional distance can exist even between people who share the same home. The idea is inspired by MAGGI’s belief that spending time together is what keeps us close.
At the heart of the experience is a specially designed table, inspired by the role tables play in bringing people together over meals and conversations. As participants answered questions about one another, the table responded in real time, turning emotional closeness and distance into something they could physically see.
The questions did the rest. As they moved from the everyday to the personal, confident answers often gave way to pauses, guesses and surprising discoveries. The experiment revealed a simple but relatable truth: distance does not always come from a lack of love. Sometimes, it comes from not spending enough time together.
Rupali Rattan, head, foods business, Nestlé India, said: “The distance between people isn’t always measured in kilometres. Sometimes, it exists across a dining table, in a shared living room, or between two people scrolling through their phones in silence. Through The Togetherness Table, we wanted to make that invisible distance visible and encourage families across India to make a little more time for one another. Because spending time together is what keeps us close.”
The Togetherness Table reinforces MAGGI’s belief that being together is about more than sharing a space. It is about the small moments that spark conversations, strengthen bonds and bring people closer: a shared meal, a conversation, a laugh, a few uninterrupted minutes together. For generations, MAGGI has been part of these everyday moments. Because when people come together, they are reminded why they are So Good Together.
The analysis is simple. Most brand films ask viewers to buy something. This one asks them to put the phone down. By turning a feeling into something people can literally see on a table, MAGGI gives its long-standing role at the family meal a fresh, modern purpose, and does so without a hard sell. The choice of a table is smart: it is the one piece of furniture that every Indian household shares, and the one place where the pause between a question and an answer is hardest to hide. For Nestlé India, it is a reminder that the brand’s real product is the moment, not just the noodles.
