Tata Play partners Spotify to offer four-month Premium trial
Offer gives eligible Binge subscribers ad-free music and podcasts at no cost
MUMBAI: Tata Play is turning up the music, with a little help from Spotify. Tata Play has partnered with Spotify to offer eligible subscribers a four-month complimentary trial of Spotify Premium Standard, as the content distribution platform expands its audio entertainment offering.
The offer is available to Tata Play Binge subscribers from August 17 and will subsequently roll out on the Tata Play Mobile App. Subscribers who are new to Spotify Premium can redeem the offer using a promotional code through Tata Play’s platforms.
Once activated, Spotify Premium Standard offers ad-free listening, offline downloads and unlimited skips across compatible devices. The service provides access to more than 100 million songs and over 7 million podcast titles, according to the companies.
The partnership expands Tata Play’s entertainment proposition beyond television and OTT aggregation, adding a music streaming service to its existing content ecosystem.
The offer is targeted at eligible Tata Play subscribers who have not previously subscribed to Spotify Premium. Users can access the trial by redeeming the promotional code provided through Tata Play’s platforms.
Spotify Premium’s features include uninterrupted, ad-free listening, the ability to download music and podcasts for offline use, and unlimited skips. Users can also access personalised audio recommendations across Spotify’s catalogue.
Tata Play operates across the direct-to-home (DTH) and content distribution segments, offering both pay-TV and OTT services. Its Binge platform aggregates content from multiple streaming services, while the Tata Play Mobile App extends its digital entertainment offering to mobile users.
For Spotify, the partnership provides access to Tata Play’s subscriber base in India, while Tata Play gets another audio offering to complement its television and streaming services.
The four-month trial gives Tata Play subscribers a longer window to explore Spotify’s music and podcast catalogue, making the partnership another step towards turning content aggregation into a broader entertainment proposition.
