New Delhi: Network18 is making a legal move in the boardroom. The media company has appointed its group general counsel, Kshipra Jatana, as its representative on the board of the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA), replacing managing director Rahul Joshi.

The appointment was announced on Friday, with Jatana taking over Network18’s seat on the industry body representing news broadcasters and digital news publishers.

Jatana heads legal, policy and regulatory affairs at Network18 and also oversees regulatory and government affairs across the wider group, including its businesses and joint ventures. In her current role, she is responsible for shaping the company’s legal and regulatory strategy while supporting business expansion and strengthening governance frameworks.

She brings extensive experience in legal, regulatory and policy matters within the media sector.

Before joining Network18, Jatana served as general counsel and head of mergers and acquisitions at MIH India. She has also held legal roles at Star TV and AZB & Partners.

She succeeds Rahul Joshi, who has represented Network18 on the NBDA board while serving as the company’s managing director.

Joshi joined Network18 in September 2015 and has overseen the expansion of the group’s television and digital news businesses, including CNBC-TV18, CNN-News18, News18 India, Moneycontrol and Firstpost.

Prior to joining Network18, he spent several years at The Economic Times, where he rose to become editor and later editorial director. During his tenure, he also led the launch of business news channel ET Now and played a key role in expanding the publication’s digital operations.

The News Broadcasters & Digital Association is the representative body for television news broadcasters and digital news publishers in India, with members working across broadcast and online news platforms.
