Bengaluru: Retail therapy is getting a streaming companion. Flipkart has partnered with Netflix to let Flipkart Plus members earn a monthly Netflix Mobile Plan simply by shopping, marking the streaming platform’s first e-commerce rewards partnership in India.

The benefit will go live on August 1 and allows eligible customers to unlock 30 days of Netflix access without purchasing a separate subscription or opting for a bundled recharge.

Under the programme, Flipkart Plus members must complete four qualifying orders worth at least Rs 299 each within a calendar month. Eligible purchases can be made across Flipkart, Flipkart Grocery and Flipkart Minutes.

Once the fourth qualifying order is completed, members receive a Netflix Mobile Plan valid for the next 30 days, giving them access to Netflix’s catalogue of Indian and international films and series. The benefit is activated directly through the Flipkart app without requiring a separate payment or login.

After the 30-day period ends, customers can earn the benefit again by meeting the same monthly shopping milestone. Customers who are not already Flipkart Plus members will automatically become eligible for the loyalty programme after completing 15 orders over a 12-month period at no additional cost.

Unlike traditional subscription bundles, the partnership links entertainment rewards directly to shopping behaviour. Flipkart said the model is designed to encourage repeat engagement across its marketplace, grocery and quick commerce platforms while offering customers an additional benefit tied to purchases they are already making.

The company said the initiative reflects changing consumer behaviour, particularly among Gen Z shoppers, who increasingly value experience-led rewards alongside savings. By integrating entertainment into its loyalty programme, Flipkart aims to make everyday purchases more rewarding for customers across metropolitan centres as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Flipkart, chief financial officer and senior vice president, strategic partnerships, Ravi Iyer said grocery, daily essentials and quick commerce have become an increasingly important part of customers’ shopping habits, creating an opportunity to make those interactions more valuable.

He said completing four orders a month is already a natural pattern for many customers and that the partnership transforms routine shopping into access to premium entertainment, adding that Flipkart Plus will continue evolving into a programme that delivers value across different aspects of customers’ daily lives.

Netflix, vice president, APAC partnerships – business development, Laurent Uguen said India is one of the world’s most dynamic entertainment markets and that successful partnerships are built around genuine consumer behaviour.

He said Flipkart is already part of millions of Indians’ everyday shopping routines, making it a natural platform to offer Netflix Mobile through shopping milestones. Uguen added that the collaboration reflects Netflix’s focus on building simple, consumer-first partnerships that fit seamlessly into existing customer habits.

The partnership highlights a growing trend of loyalty programmes moving beyond discounts and cashback towards experience-based rewards, with shopping and streaming now coming together in a single customer journey.
