Sony LIV adds 150 plus Sony Pictures films to bolster Hollywood library
Spider-Man, Jumanji and The Da Vinci Code join catalogue ahead of next film
MUMBAI: Looks like Sony LIV has spun a bigger web. Just as anticipation builds for the next Spider-Man film, the streaming platform has expanded its Hollywood offering by adding more than 150 English-language films from Sony Pictures Entertainment, giving subscribers a significantly broader library of blockbuster titles.
The expanded catalogue brings together some of Sony Pictures’ most recognisable franchises and films, including the Spider-Man series, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Jumanji, The Pursuit of Happyness, The Da Vinci Code, The Karate Kid (2010), 50 First Dates, My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), Charlie’s Angels, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Michael Jackson’s This Is It.
The move comes ahead of the theatrical release of the next Spider-Man instalment, with actor Tom Holland also sharing a special message for audiences in India as part of the announcement.
Sony LIV said the expanded collection spans multiple genres, including superhero films, action, drama, biographical features and Hollywood classics, broadening the platform’s English-language entertainment portfolio.
The latest addition reflects the growing competition among streaming platforms to strengthen licensed international content alongside original programming. As OTT players compete for viewer attention, established Hollywood franchises continue to play a key role in attracting subscribers and boosting engagement.
With more than 150 new titles joining its catalogue, Sony LIV is betting that familiar blockbusters, timeless classics and fan-favourite franchises will keep audiences pressing play long after the credits roll.
