MUMBAI: Hero MotoCorp has found a new gear, and scooters are helping lead the charge. India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer reported a 23 per cent year-on-year increase in vehicle dispatches for the first quarter of FY27, buoyed by healthy demand across its core motorcycles, premium models, scooters and electric vehicle portfolio.

The company dispatched 1.68 million units during the April-June quarter, while June 2026 dispatches stood at 541,159 units, reflecting sustained momentum despite a mixed performance in motorcycles during the month.

Hero MotoCorp attributed the quarterly growth to broad-based demand across both its internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle lineup, with retail activity remaining resilient throughout the quarter.

Domestic registrations also pointed to steady consumer demand. According to VAHAN data, the company recorded 1.53 million vehicle registrations during the quarter, marking a 9 per cent year-on-year increase.

Motorcycle dispatches, however, presented a contrasting picture. In June, the company dispatched 478,701 motorcycles, down 6.6 per cent from 512,658 units in the corresponding month last year. Despite the monthly decline, motorcycle volumes for the quarter remained robust, rising 16.5 per cent year-on-year to 1,484,255 units.

Scooters emerged as the standout performer. Monthly scooter dispatches climbed sharply to 62,458 units in June, up from 41,305 units a year earlier. During the April-June quarter, Hero MotoCorp dispatched 193,058 scooters, highlighting growing consumer appetite for the segment.

The company’s international business also maintained a steady pace. Hero MotoCorp exported 38,269 units in June, taking total exports for the first quarter of FY27 to 105,206 units.

The latest numbers underline Hero MotoCorp’s broad-based recovery across product categories. While motorcycles continue to anchor volumes, rising scooter demand, steady exports and resilient retail registrations suggest the company is riding into FY27 with momentum across multiple segments of the two-wheeler market.
