Uber appoints Nikhil Goud Battula as head of fleets for India

Former Amazon executive joins ride-hailing platform after nine years to lead fleet operations

MUMBAI: Uber has appointed Nikhil Goud Battula as head of fleets for India, strengthening its leadership team as the company sharpens its focus on scaling mobility operations in one of its largest global markets.

Battula joins Uber after a nine-year stint at Amazon, where he held several leadership roles across programme management, logistics and delivery operations. Most recently, he served as senior manager, programme management, leading Amazon India’s Delivery Service Partner programme that helped entrepreneurs build and scale logistics businesses across the country.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Battula reflected on his journey at Amazon, describing it as “challenging, fulfilling and incredibly rewarding”. He said the experience allowed him to work with exceptional leaders and teams while building a strong network of delivery entrepreneurs.

“I am thrilled to share that I’m joining Uber as Head of Fleets for India. Mobility is at a significant inflection point in India, and I’m inspired by the bold vision set by Prabhjeet Singh. I look forward to new learnings and working closely with Aditya Kapoor and the team at the intersection of technology, operations, and strategy to drive meaningful impact,” Battula wrote.

Before joining Uber, Battula spent nearly a decade at Amazon, progressing through roles including channel relationship manager, senior programme manager, manager programme management and senior manager programme management. His responsibilities included expanding Amazon India’s logistics network and enabling entrepreneurship through its delivery partner ecosystem.

Prior to Amazon, Battula worked at Portea as business manager, where he led regional operations, and was involved in the post-merger integration of manufacturing operations at Sun Pharma following its acquisition of Ranbaxy. He began his corporate career through Ranbaxy’s Global Leaders Programme.

Battula holds an MBA in marketing from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, and a B.Tech in computer science from VNR Vignan Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology.

His appointment comes shortly after the departure of former Uber India and South Asia president Prabhjeet Singh, as the ride-hailing company continues to strengthen its operational leadership amid growing demand for mobility and fleet services in India.
