MUMBAI: For countless Indian kitchens, the daily grind just got a little less literal. As consumers increasingly swap heavily processed condiments for fresher, more authentic alternatives, ITC’s Aashirvaad brand is betting that convenience and tradition can finally share the same plate.

The company has launched a new range of ready-to-eat chutneys and sambar, aimed at consumers seeking homemade flavours without the daily chopping, grinding and tempering that typically accompany them.

The launch comes amid a broader shift in food preferences, with shoppers showing growing interest in fresh, minimally processed products and cleaner ingredient labels. Increasingly, consumers are willing to pay more for foods that prioritise freshness, quality and authenticity over long shelf lives.

Aashirvaad’s new range attempts to tap into that demand by offering preservative-free accompaniments prepared in small batches using carefully selected ingredients. Rather than positioning shelf life as a strength, the company is leaning into its shorter lifespan as proof of freshness, supported by a cold-chain network designed to maintain quality from production to delivery.

The range includes Coconut Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Tomato Chutney, Peanut Chutney, Tamarind Date Chutney and Sambar staples that feature prominently in South Indian households but often require significant preparation time.

Adding to the appeal, select variants are finished with traditional tempering, helping recreate the familiar aromas and flavours associated with homemade cooking.

The move reflects a growing trend within the packaged food industry, where brands are increasingly competing not just on convenience, but on how closely they can replicate freshly prepared meals. Consumers today want shortcuts, but not at the expense of taste, texture or trust.

For Aashirvaad, the launch represents an expansion beyond pantry staples into the fast-growing fresh foods category, where expectations are higher and authenticity is closely scrutinised.

The new range is currently available across Bengaluru through quick commerce platforms Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, placing fresh chutneys and sambar just a few taps away from consumers looking to save time without compromising on flavour.
