JioHotstar elevates Sameer Tripathy to Director for key growth sectors
OTT sales veteran to lead e-commerce, quick commerce, jewellery and lifestyle.
MUMBAI: The streaming ladder has a new climber at the top, and this one knows exactly how to turn eyeballs into revenue. JioHotstar has elevated advertising sales executive Sameer Tripathy to the role of Director, entrusting him with some of the platform’s fastest-growing consumer categories, including e-commerce, quick commerce, jewellery and lifestyle.
The promotion marks another milestone in Tripathy’s rapid rise through India’s digital media and OTT advertising ecosystem, where he has built a reputation for driving growth across high-value consumer sectors.
In his new role, Tripathy will oversee monetisation strategies for categories that sit at the heart of India’s evolving consumption story. From the rise of quick commerce and online retail to the growing influence of lifestyle and jewellery brands, these sectors have become increasingly important to advertisers looking to tap into India’s digital-first audiences.
Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Tripathy described the elevation as the beginning of a new chapter and credited managers, mentors and colleagues for supporting his journey.
The appointment caps a remarkable progression within JioHotstar. After joining as Account Director in January 2025, Tripathy was elevated to Associate Director in November 2025 before moving into the Director role in May 2026.
During his tenure, he managed a portfolio exceeding Rs 150 crore and led advertising partnerships across e-commerce, quick commerce, lifestyle, jewellery and mobile categories. His responsibilities spanned programmatic advertising, connected TV (CTV), branded content, sponsorships and data-led monetisation initiatives.
Tripathy has also claimed nearly 100 per cent growth across several categories while helping brands leverage premium content, audience targeting and cross-platform integrations to boost visibility and returns on investment.
Before JioHotstar, he served as Vertical Lead at Viacom18 Media and held senior sales and monetisation roles at MX Player, The Viral Fever (TVF), ABP News and Eenadu Publications.
With more than a decade of experience across television, digital media and streaming platforms, Tripathy’s elevation comes as OTT players intensify efforts to unlock new advertising opportunities amid growing competition for consumer attention and marketing spends.
For JioHotstar, the move signals a continued focus on strengthening leadership in categories that are increasingly shaping India’s digital commerce boom and where the next wave of advertising growth is expected to emerge.
