Zepto elevates Jitendra Singh to director of engineering
IIT Guwahati alumnus takes on expanded role to steer Zepto’s tech future
MUMBAI: Climbing the tech ladder at quick speed, much like the deliveries his company is known for, Jitendra Singh has been promoted to director of engineering at Zepto, marking the latest milestone in his nearly four-year journey with the fast-growing quick-commerce platform.
Singh announced the development on LinkedIn, sharing that he has stepped into the new role after serving in a series of increasingly senior leadership positions at the company. As director of engineering, he will continue to oversee engineering excellence, platform scalability, product innovation and broader technology strategy as Zepto expands its footprint across India.
The promotion reflects a steady rise through the organisation’s technology ranks. Singh joined Zepto in September 2022 as Engineering Manager before being elevated to Associate Director Engineering in October 2024. After a year and a half in that role, he has now taken charge as Director of Engineering from April 2026.
His appointment comes at a time when Zepto continues to scale operations in one of India’s most competitive consumer technology sectors. Engineering leadership has become increasingly critical for quick-commerce players as they balance rapid customer growth, operational efficiency and product innovation.
Before joining Zepto, Singh spent seven years at Zilingo, where he held leadership responsibilities across multiple technology functions. During his tenure, he led logistics technology initiatives, owned the company’s search platform and helped build several microservices powering notifications, trends and product-related capabilities. His work also involved strengthening the technology backbone supporting Zilingo’s commerce operations.
Earlier in his career, Singh worked as a member of technical staff at EdgeVerve, where he contributed to virtual assistant and artificial intelligence-led projects. His responsibilities included developing question-answering systems, building conversational response frameworks and exploring topic modelling technologies.
An engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Singh holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and graduated with a strong academic record.
The latest elevation underscores Zepto’s preference for nurturing internal talent as it strengthens its leadership bench. For Singh, the promotion is both recognition of a successful run so far and a larger mandate to help power the next phase of growth for one of India’s most closely watched technology companies.
