TRAI extends deadline for telecom complaint rule feedback

MUMBAI: A ringing extension has entered the conversation. Just when the clock seemed ready to disconnect feedback on telecom consumer complaints, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given stakeholders a little more airtime. TRAI has extended the deadline for submitting comments on the Draft Telecom Consumer Complaint Redressal (Fourth Amendment) Regulations, 2026, following requests from industry stakeholders and their associations seeking additional time to review the proposed changes.

The draft regulations were released on 7 May 2026, with the original deadline for stakeholder feedback set for 5 June. Under the revised schedule, comments can now be submitted until 12 June 2026.

In a further move aimed at broadening participation in the consultation process, TRAI has also opened the door for counter-comments. Stakeholders wishing to respond to submissions made by others will have until 19 June 2026 to file their views.

The proposed amendment forms part of TRAI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen consumer grievance redressal mechanisms in the telecom sector, an area that continues to attract close scrutiny as digital connectivity becomes increasingly central to everyday life.
