World Environment Day initiative aims to give unwanted garments a second life
MUMBAI: Mumbai, it’s finally time to declutter your overflowing wardrobe. This World Environment Day on 5th June 2026, the sustainability movement is getting a star-powered boost. Actor, environmental advocate, and UNEP Goodwill & Swachh Bharat Mission Ambassador Dia Mirza will attend the grand launch of Mumbai’s Mega post-consumer textile waste collection & upcycling initiatives as the Guest of Honour, bringing her long-standing commitment to environmental action to the forefront.
Led by ReFiber (powered by OterRi), and in collaboration with Tisser, CMAI, UNIDO, World Trade Center Mumbai, and Lions International, the citywide collection drive will take place from 5th to 12th June 2026, inviting citizens across Mumbai to donate their unwanted clothes & give them a second life through responsible recovery, repurpose, and upcycling.

Every garment responsibly discarded through the initiative helps prevent textiles from ending up in landfills, where they can take years to decompose and contribute to pollution.
