MUMBAI: Looks like Acer has hit the right key combination. The PC maker has powered its way to the No. 2 position in India’s computer market, turning strong institutional demand into a standout start to 2026. Acer India has secured the second spot in India’s overall PC shipments market for the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest IDC India Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker. The company captured a 21.3 per cent market share, underlining its growing presence across consumer, education and government segments.

The performance was driven largely by Acer’s dominance in institutional deployments, where the brand emerged as the clear frontrunner in several categories.

In the education segment covering desktops, notebooks and workstations, Acer claimed the No. 1 position with a commanding 62.1 per cent market share. The company also topped the government segment with a 37.1 per cent share across the same categories.

Acer’s strength was particularly visible in desktop deployments. It led the education desktop market with a 56.99 per cent share and secured the top spot in government desktops with a 40.85 per cent share, reflecting its growing role in large-scale digital infrastructure projects.

The notebook segment delivered equally strong results. Acer captured the No. 1 position in education notebooks with a 63.7 per cent market share, benefiting from continued technology adoption across schools, colleges and learning institutions. In government notebooks, the company ranked second with a 33.63 per cent share, further expanding its footprint in public sector projects.

The latest rankings come amid an increasingly competitive PC market, where brands are vying for growth across commercial, education and AI-powered computing categories. Institutional demand has become a key battleground as governments and educational institutions continue investing in digital infrastructure and connected learning initiatives.

Acer has also been strengthening its market position through new product launches, wider omnichannel distribution and investments in next-generation computing technologies, including AI-focused devices.

The milestone marks one of Acer India’s strongest performances in recent years and highlights how education and government demand are increasingly shaping the country’s PC landscape.

For Acer, the numbers suggest its growth story is no longer just about selling devices. It is about securing a front-row seat in India’s broader digital transformation journey, one classroom, office and workstation at a time.
