Bobby Deol backs Alpha as Alia Bhatt packs a powerful punch
Actor hails the female-led action thriller as a refreshing shift for Indian cinema
MUMBAI: When it comes to action, Alpha is clearly raising the stakes and the bar. Bobby Deol has thrown his weight behind Alpha, calling the upcoming action thriller a refreshing and much-needed addition to Indian cinema. Led by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, the film breaks away from convention by placing two women at the centre of a high-octane action spectacle-something Bobby believes is both exciting and overdue.
The actor, who shares screen space with Alia in the Yash Raj Films production, said he thoroughly enjoyed working on the project and was particularly impressed by the film’s ambitious vision.
“I’m very fond of Ranbir and Alia and had always wanted to work with both of them,” Bobby said. “I worked with Ranbir in Animal and now with Alia in Alpha. It’s quite amazing that we are making an action film in India with two women leading the charge. It feels fresh, different and offers audiences something new to experience on the big screen.”
Bobby was especially full of praise for Alia’s commitment to the physically demanding role. Despite venturing into action territory for the first time, he said she approached the challenge with remarkable discipline and determination.
“Alia is one of the most hardworking and sincere actors I’ve worked with,” he said. “She arrives on set fully prepared and completely invested in every scene. Action is not easy to pull off, but she gave it everything she had. Watching her preparation and dedication was genuinely impressive.”
The actor also credited producer Aditya Chopra and director Shiv Rawail for insisting that the film’s action sequences feel grounded and authentic.
“Adi and Shiv had a very clear vision that the action should look raw and believable. It was a demanding shoot for all of us, but I think the result will be worth it. Hopefully audiences can sit back, enjoy the ride and have a great time watching the film.”
Directed by Shiv Rawail, best known for the acclaimed series The Railway Men, Alpha also features Anil Kapoor in a pivotal role. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 10 July 2026.
