Amazon MX Player unveils trailer for Made in India: A Titan Story
MUMBAI: Time, it turns out, doesn’t just tick, sometimes, it builds empires. Amazon MX Player has unveiled the trailer for Made in India: A Titan Story, a six-part drama series inspired by the rise of Titan, the watchmaker that quietly transformed from an ambitious business experiment into one of India’s most recognisable consumer brands. Adapted from Vinay Kamath’s book Titan: India’s Most Successful Consumer Brand, the series traces the unlikely journey of building an Indian watch company at a time when the country itself was still finding its economic identity.
Set in pre-liberalised India, the show places viewers in an era of licence raj uncertainty, cautious markets and slow-moving industry long before startup culture turned ambition into a buzzword. At the centre of that journey is Xerxes Desai, played by Jim Sarbh, whose belief in creating a world-class Indian brand collides with scepticism, bureaucracy and constant resistance.
Standing beside him is JRD Tata, portrayed by Naseeruddin Shah, whose quiet conviction and mentorship become one of the emotional anchors of the story.
The trailer leans less on corporate jargon and more on the human tension behind nation-building, the kind powered by risk, doubt and stubborn optimism. What begins as an idea to make watches gradually unfolds into something larger, a story about aspiration, self-reliance and India’s growing confidence in its own capabilities.
The timing of the series also ties neatly into the larger “Make in India” narrative dominating modern business conversations today. But instead of futuristic factories and startup valuations, Made in India rewinds to a period when building an Indian consumer brand itself felt radical.
The ensemble cast includes Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Namita Dubey, Lakshvir Saran and Kaveri Seth in pivotal roles. The series has been written by Karan Vyas, directed by Robbie Grewal and Shreyansh Pandey, and produced by Almighty Motion Pictures.
Amazon MX Player head of content Amogh Dusad described the series as a story that goes beyond the making of a brand.
“Made in India: A Titan Story reflects the ambition and entrepreneurial spirit that shaped a defining chapter in India’s story,” he said, adding that the platform continues to focus on premium homegrown narratives rooted in Indian experiences.
For Naseeruddin Shah, portraying JRD Tata meant exploring not just leadership, but belief itself.
“What fascinated me about JRD Tata was the quiet confidence with which he inspired people to dream bigger than they thought possible,” Shah said.
Jim Sarbh, meanwhile, described Xerxes Desai as “quietly rebellious,” someone willing to imagine possibilities before the rest of the country could see them.
And perhaps that is what makes the story resonate beyond boardrooms and balance sheets.
Because beneath the business milestones, Titan’s story is really about an idea that sounded improbable at the time: that India could create something of its own, and make the world wear it on its wrist.
Made in India: A Titan Story premieres on June 3, 2026, and will stream free on Amazon MX Player across mobile devices, connected TVs, Prime Video, Fire TV, JioTV and Airtel Xstream.
