Truecaller appoints former Meta executive Sandeep Bhushan to its board of directors
The communications platform adds a veteran leader as it expands monetisation efforts
MUMBAI – Truecaller is dialling up its boardroom strength. Truecaller has appointed former Meta and Samsung executive Sandeep Bhushan to its Board of Directors, as the company sharpens its focus on monetisation, enterprise services and long-term consumer trust.
Bhushan brings more than 25 years of experience spanning technology, media and consumer businesses. Most recently, he served as India director of global marketing solutions at Meta, where he led a multi-billion-dollar business and helped expand digital participation across one of the company’s largest global markets.
Before Meta, Bhushan held senior leadership roles at Samsung, overseeing marketing and operator partnerships for its smartphone division. He was also a founding member and chief operating officer at WSJ-Mint, playing a key role in building the publication into one of India’s most recognised business media platforms. His career began at Unilever, where he spent over a decade in leadership roles across consumer-facing businesses.
The appointment comes as Truecaller continues to diversify its revenue strategy. The company is moving beyond traditional programmatic advertising towards a broader B2B SaaS and premium advertising model, aimed at strengthening direct business partnerships and reducing dependence on third-party ad networks. With more than 500 million active users globally, the platform has seen strong growth across its advertising and enterprise verification businesses, particularly in markets such as India, the Middle East and Latin America.
Commenting on the appointment, Sandeep Bhushan said, “Truecaller has built a powerful platform at global scale, where trust and monetisation must evolve together. As digital ecosystems mature, getting this balance right becomes a key differentiator. I look forward to engaging with the Board and management team to help shape the next phase of the company’s continued growth journey.”
Meanwhile, Truecaller co-founder Nami Zarringhalam said Bhushan’s experience in scaling consumer and monetisation businesses across high-growth markets would bring valuable perspective to the company’s next phase of expansion.
Bhushan currently also serves on the board of Traya Health. He holds no shares in Truecaller and will serve as an independent board member.
As competition intensifies across digital communication and advertising ecosystems, Truecaller’s latest board appointment signals that the company is preparing for growth that goes well beyond caller identification.
