Prajay Kamat joins Ramoji Film City as vice president international business
Virtual production and XR expert set to scale international business strategy
LONDON: Ramoji Film City has appointed virtual production and AI technology specialist Prajay Kamat as vice president, marking a strategic push to expand its international business footprint and strengthen its position in global film production services.
Kamat announced the move via LinkedIn, stating that he is joining the senior leadership team at Ramoji Film City as vice president of international affairs, where he will focus on scaling global partnerships and revenue streams across key markets including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and the UAE.
He said the role combines “deep tech innovation on one side and scaled international media strategy on the other”, signalling a dual focus on advanced production technology and global business development.
In his new position, Kamat will lead an international expansion roadmap targeting film studios, OTT platforms, production houses and film commissions. A key priority will be positioning Ramoji Film City as a hub for international co-productions, location shoots and studio services.
The role also includes oversight of motion capture and virtual production units, with a mandate to promote the studio’s advanced on-site infrastructure to international filmmakers. Ramoji Film City spans 1,666 acres and includes more than 50 permanent sets along with full-scale post-production facilities.
Kamat will also leverage his base between the UK and India to bridge global production ecosystems, connecting international decision-makers with India’s growing capabilities in high-end film and digital content production.
His appointment comes as global studios increasingly invest in virtual production, real-time rendering and AI-led workflows to reduce production timelines and costs while improving creative flexibility.
Kamat brings extensive experience in immersive technology and XR systems. He is the founder of MergeXR Studio, where he has worked on virtual production pipelines for films and streaming projects across India and the UK. His work includes AI-driven content systems, motion-based simulation technology and real-time Unreal Engine production workflows.
He has also previously held leadership roles in immersive technology companies, with experience spanning augmented reality, virtual production and large-scale experiential systems for global brands and entertainment venues.
Industry observers say his appointment reflects Ramoji Film City’s ambition to evolve beyond traditional studio operations into a global production and technology hub, as demand rises for integrated filming ecosystems that combine physical infrastructure with advanced digital tools.
With the global entertainment industry rapidly shifting towards hybrid production models, the move positions Ramoji Film City to tap into new international collaborations and strengthen India’s role in the evolving film production landscape.
