Shoppers Stop reports full-year loss of Rs 46cr
Q4 loss widens to Rs 18cr as revenue growth fails to offset high costs.
MUMBAI: Shoppers Stop has hit a rough patch in the retail aisles posting losses even as it tries to dress up its performance. The department store chain reported a standalone net loss of Rs 46.24 crore for the full financial year ended 31 March 2026, compared to a marginal profit of Rs 6.74 crore in the previous year. Revenue from operations grew 6 per cent to Rs 4,708 crore from Rs 4,436 crore.
For the quarter ended 31 March 2026, the company posted a net loss of Rs 18.28 crore against a profit of Rs 2.47 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 9 per cent to Rs 1,117 crore.
On a consolidated basis, the full-year loss stood at Rs 36.09 crore while revenue increased to Rs 5,043 crore.
The numbers reflect ongoing pressure from high operating costs, subdued consumer demand in certain segments, and a challenging retail environment, despite efforts to optimise inventory and improve store productivity.
With the books closed on a difficult year, Shoppers Stop will now be looking to tighten its belts and refresh its appeal to bring shoppers back in larger numbers. In the competitive retail space, turning the page on losses will require more than just window dressing.
