Omnicom names Christine Gambino CEO of Omni platform
Flywheel’s Alex McCord takes charge of commerce unit as Duncan Painter exits
MUMBAI: Omnicom has elevated Christine Gambino to chief executive officer of its Omni platform, marking a key leadership reshuffle across its digital and commerce divisions.
Gambino steps into the role immediately, taking over from Duncan Painter, who is stepping down to pursue a senior executive opportunity in the United Kingdom.
Omni sits at the centre of Omnicom’s marketing and sales intelligence ecosystem, and Gambino will now lead its next phase of development. As former chief operating officer of Omni, she previously oversaw more than 1,000 product and technology professionals working on the platform’s data and intelligence capabilities.
In her new role, she will focus on scaling Omni across the organisation and strengthening its use as a shared infrastructure tool for client-facing teams.
“It’s an honour to lead Omni at this pivotal moment when the platform is serving as a shared resource for the new Omnicom,” Christine Gambino said. “Duncan has created an exceptional foundation, and I’m grateful for his leadership as we accelerate adoption across the organisation.”
Gambino previously spent six years at Flywheel, where she led engineering, product and data science teams, driving innovation in automation and predictive analytics. Her earlier career included roles at Under Armour, UPS and CasSevern, building a strong background in technology and operations.
Alongside the Omni leadership change, Omnicom also announced a shift at its commerce division. Flywheel chief executive officer Alex McCord will now take charge of Omnicom Commerce while continuing in his current role at Flywheel.
McCord brings 15 years of experience in commerce, with a focus on integrating technology, data and strategy to drive brand and sales performance. His expanded remit is expected to strengthen Omnicom’s commerce capabilities across markets.
“I’m proud of how swiftly we launched the next generation of Omni following the Interpublic acquisition,” Duncan Painter said. “Christine brings deep understanding of the platform, and Alex brings strong commerce expertise to accelerate impact across Omnicom.”
Painter said he will move into a new chapter in the UK, closer to his family, after overseeing the integration and scaling of key digital assets within the group.
With both Omni and Flywheel positioned at the core of Omnicom’s integrated media strategy, the leadership changes signal a renewed push to deepen data-led marketing capabilities across the global network.
