American news and current affairs channel CNN has drawn up a gaggle of timely shows for the coming week. The collapse of IT jobs in Palo Alto will be the theme of one of the discussions, with the second being the first 100 days of Laura Bush as the wife of the US President, and the third will be a tete a tete with an Indian who has directed the popular hospital series ER.

Q&A (whose host Riz Khan is leaving the channel) will discuss tonight (16 April, Monday 10 PM) the problems faced by the software and internet industry. In just one year, the Internet sector has gone from the number one location for new jobs, to a very risky proposition for any jobseeker. There are likely to be 44 per cent less new jobs in the IT sector than last year, and India's technology industry says it expect 40,000 professionals to return to India.

On 17 April at the same time Q & A will feature Babu Subramanian, director of the phenomenally popular and moolah making drama ER. ER is an hour long medical drama on NBC, created by Michael Crichton. The show itself revolves around the lives of the doctors, nurses, interns and other people who work in the emergency room of the Cook County General Hospital in Chicago.
