Oscar time lag to avoid ‘wardrobe malfuntion’

MUMBAI: US television network ACB will be using a time delay during its live telecast of this year’s Oscar awards to be held on 27 February. The channel is making use of this method to avoid the screening of any scandalous wardrobe malfunction or foul language.

As per a Variety report, the delay would last seven seconds which is the usual time broadcasters use to scan a live programme pre-telecast.

Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” at last year’s Super Bowl show had kicked up one of the biggest controversies in the US television history which led to Federal Communications Commission levying major fines against broadcasters whose stars have crossed decency limits on TV.
