CBBC, Bafta announce ‘me and my movie’ initiative & joint award
MUMBAI: The CBBC me and my movie award in association with Bafta launches this week and will culminate with one winning British child being given a special new award at the annual Children‘s Baftas.
The new joint award is a culmination of a new children‘s film–making initiative – CBBC me and my movie – which inspires and enables children to make their own films and tell their own stories.
Prior to the award, children across the UK can get inspiration from Blue Peter – where 12 aspiring young film-makers have earned the opportunity to be trained by top names from the film industry at the movie mansion, located near Pinewood Studios. Experts include the movie mansion guru, Bafta‘s former chairman Duncan Kenworthy who will help bring their film ideas to life. Duncan says, “Bafta is delighted to partner with CBBC on me and my movie, which will give kids from all over the UK a chance to get involved in the basics of movie-making. “We hope it‘s going to inspire them all to have a go at writing, shooting and editing their own movies, and whether they are interested in it as a career or not, that they begin to develop a lifelong passion for film.” To be in with a chance of winning this exclusive award, children are invited to submit their home-made films to CBBC by 30 September 2007 with the short-listed nominees invited to attend the Awards ceremony to be held in London on 25 November. CBBC me and my movie is also providing an original 3D online space where children can engage with the experience of film-making. From September, children will be able to upload, share and rate each others‘ films on the website bbc.co.uk/cbbc/meandmymovie. CBBC creative director Anne Gilchrist says, “Children are at the heart of everything we do and this opportunity to engage children in film-making and to share and build on each others‘ ideas is very exciting.” The initiative is supported by the CBBC me and my movie summer roadshow and workshops which will tour the UK with free film-making activities for children from July-September.

Mukta Arts and Green Gold ink MOU to animate iconic film IPs
Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan to spawn animated shows plus features.
MUMBAI: When classic hindi movie meets animation, the result is a fresh reel of nostalgia with a cartoon twist. Mukta Arts Ltd. and Green Gold Animation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on animated shows and feature films drawn from Mukta Arts’ four-decade treasure trove of iconic IPs. The partnership taps Mukta’s SGM Animation Studio launched in 2025 as its dedicated animation and games arm and Green Gold’s proven track record in building scalable, homegrown franchises. Creative teams from both sides have already kicked off discussions, with the first project currently in development.
The slate will draw inspiration from landmark Mukta films including Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Iqbal, plus character-led spin-offs from those universes. The aim is to reimagine these stories for today’s young, global audiences while preserving their emotional core.
Green Gold Animation (home of Chhota Bheem) founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “This partnership with SGM Studios allows us to apply our experience in building long-lasting animation IPs to a truly iconic film catalogue. Together, we aim to create animated worlds that are rooted in these legendary stories, yet designed to connect with today’s young, global audiences.”
Mukta Arts Ltd. filmmaker and founder Subhash Ghai added, “Mukta Arts has always believed in creating stories with lasting emotional value. Through animation, we are extending our IP into a new medium for the next generation.”
In an industry where timeless tales never go out of fashion, this collaboration promises to bring beloved characters back to life with a modern, animated glow proving that some stories are too good to stay in live-action. Stay tuned for the first animated frame to drop.
