New look, re-launch for B4U Music in store

Published

MUMBAI: Don’t peek, its changing! After a complete management change, B4U Music is poised to start afresh.

Although the plan is in the process of being firmed up, the Bollywood specialist channel will be repackaging all its shows and launching a VJ hunt, too, soon.

But the first thing that the programming and production head, for both India and overseas beams, Khalid Sayed is set to tackle is the issue about it’s visibility. “First priority is to see that my channel is been seen. Only when it is being seen, can I zero down on the revamp plans. But yes, within the next six months you will be seeing a brand new channel.”

Speaking about the channel’s future action plan, Sayed said, “As soon as we are manage to sort out our differences with the cable operators about the distribution and visibility, we will be looking at repackaging the shows.”

While the team now comprises an all-new executive team, it is likely that IT will do a complete overhaul even where the programming is concerned. That apart, the channel is also contemplating on announcing a talents hunt to search for a brand new VJs for the channel.

The winners for the UK edition of the channel’s VJ
hunt, Race 4 The Face, which is a search for two UK presenters (one male and one female for its new UK
programming), is acting as a platform for these youngsters to showcase their talent in the world of television.

The channel short-listed Amandeep Kaur and Gurmej Singh Pawar. Both Kaur and Pawar are currently in Mumbai undergoing their presenter training in the B4U in-house studios before they actually start their stint as VJs. Besides formally training them and giving them a stylised look, the channel has hired ace photographer Subi Samuel to shoot their portfolio. “We are planning some localised programming for the new VJs; we will be making some announcement soon,” informed Sayed.

What has been rather unfortunate is the brain-drain from the channel. A rather daunting task is of setting up the systems all over again. The main grouse may be the visibility, but industry sources indicate that it is lack of quality content that has led to a low demand.

The new team is currently brainstorming to bring in the new dawn, but whether they will get out of the vicious content-visibility cycle is yet to be seen.

MUMBAI: Mumbai is about to witness something it has never seen before. The Global Youth Festival arrives on 6-7 December at Jio World Garden with 15,000 attendees and 60-plus experiences sprawled across six sprawling arenas. On its sixth edition, this is no ordinary jamboree—it is a carefully orchestrated collision of wellness, adventure, arts, music, yoga and social change.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis will throw open the proceedings with a landmark ceremony, signalling the state’s backing for a movement that has already mobilised youth across 20-plus countries and 170-plus cities. The sheer scale is staggering: 500-plus volunteers powering the machine, 600,000-plus volunteer hours logged across previous editions, and millions of lives touched annually.

The speaker roster is formidable. Diipa Büller-Khosla and Dipali Goenka, chief executive of Welspun India, will share the stage with Malaika Arora in conversations spanning leadership, creativity and culture. Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mansukhbhai Mandaviya will also attend, reinforcing GYF’s reach into the corridors of power.

But this is not mere talk. The Solaris Mainstage promises concerts from renowned Indian artists. Innerverse delivers a 360-degree LED spectacle of art, technology and sound. The Love and Care Arena houses hands-on projects spanning women’s empowerment, child education, rural upliftment and animal welfare. India’s largest outdoor sound-healing experience awaits. An inflatable obstacle course, neon drifter karts and open-sky bouldering cater to thrill-seekers.

Some have branded GYF the “Coachella of Consciousness.” Others call it “India’s Largest Sober Festival.” Spiritual visionary Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji, who inspired the festival, will deliver the Wisdom Masterclass. Every rupee goes to charity.

After Mumbai comes Kolkata on 14 December. New York looms next year. For one weekend in December, Mumbai becomes the epicentre of youth-driven change—and nothing will be quite the same after.
