MTV International expands Nick in Russia

LONDON: MTV Networks International (MTVNI) and Russia’s TNT- Teleset have launched a fully customised Nickelodeon animation block on TNT. This means, Nick’s content will now be available to 90 million new viewers.

MTVNI has appointed EEMC as the licensing agent for all Nickelodeon properties in Russia, according to an official release. These deals signal a move by MTVNI to further expand Nickelodeon’s presence in the Russian market across multiple platforms.

TNT – Teleset which claims to be Russia’s fastest-growing channel launched a Russian language Nickelodeon programme block. It broadcasts two hours daily, Monday to Friday. Under the deal, Nickelodeon will reach TNT’s 90 million viewers across Russia through its terrestrial and affiliate services.

A world leader in creating innovative original kids’ TV content, the daily Nickelodeon block in Russia will feature hit animated series such as SpongeBob SquarePants, The Wild Thornberrys, Rugrats and Hey Arnold!.

The release adds that the signing of EEMC as Nickelodeon’s licensing agent is a step forward in MTVNI’s global strategy to accelerate the growth of Nickelodeon’s consumer products business.

Key Nickelodeon licensed properties to initially roll-out in Russia will be Rugrats and SpongeBob SquarePants as well as the Nickelodeon brand itself.

Nickelodeon Russia was the first fully-customised Russian language 24-hour kids’ channel to launch in Russia in November 1998.

MTV Russia, a free-to-air service seen in over 21 million households across Russia, claims to be the first global television brand to launch a service customised for Russian youth, the release informs.

Mukta Arts and Green Gold ink MOU to animate iconic film IPs

Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan to spawn animated shows plus features.

MUMBAI: When classic hindi movie meets animation, the result is a fresh reel of nostalgia with a cartoon twist. Mukta Arts Ltd. and Green Gold Animation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on animated shows and feature films drawn from Mukta Arts’ four-decade treasure trove of iconic IPs. The partnership taps Mukta’s SGM Animation Studio launched in 2025 as its dedicated animation and games arm and Green Gold’s proven track record in building scalable, homegrown franchises. Creative teams from both sides have already kicked off discussions, with the first project currently in development.

The slate will draw inspiration from landmark Mukta films including Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Iqbal, plus character-led spin-offs from those universes. The aim is to reimagine these stories for today’s young, global audiences while preserving their emotional core.

Green Gold Animation (home of Chhota Bheem) founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “This partnership with SGM Studios allows us to apply our experience in building long-lasting animation IPs to a truly iconic film catalogue. Together, we aim to create animated worlds that are rooted in these legendary stories, yet designed to connect with today’s young, global audiences.”

In an industry where timeless tales never go out of fashion, this collaboration promises to bring beloved characters back to life with a modern, animated glow proving that some stories are too good to stay in live-action. Stay tuned for the first animated frame to drop.
