Hindi GEC: Life OK jumps in two categories, Zee & Star Utsav climb in one

MUMBAI: Star plus continued to remain the leader in GEC and GEC – Urban genres in BARC India week 17. 

From its fourth position in week 16, Zee TV returned to its third position in week 17. Star Utsav climbed a spot from the eight position. In Hindi GEC rural, Big Magic dropped to the tenth position.

Star Plus maintained its top position, witnessing a slight hike in rating with 640266 Impressions (000s) sum compared to last week’s 639788 Impressions (000s) sum. Sony Pal has come on the second slot with 577002 Impressions (000s) sum and Colors on the third with 554259.

Zee Tv climbed to fourth spot with 527739 Impressions (000s) sum from the fifth level in the last week. Rishtey dropped one slot to the fifth position with 509513 Impressions (000s) sum and Zee Anmol bagged the sixth position with 435289 Impressions (000s) sum.

Star Utsav and Sab TV registered seventh and eighth spot with 428772 Impressions (000s) sum and 410493 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively. Life Ok climbed one spot to ninth with 368892 Impressions (000s) sum. Sony Entertainment dropped to the tenth position with 340780 Impressions (000s) sum.

Hindi GEC Rural

Sony Pal continued to remain at the top position with 433816 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Rishtey with 378592 Impressions (000s) sum. Zee Anmol and Star Utsav stood at third and fourth positions with 344046 Impressions (000s) sum and 318865 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

Zee TV bagged the fifth position with 227832 Impressions (000s) sum. Star Plus, Colors and Sab TV respectively grabbed the sixth, seventh and eighth spot with 215755 Impressions (000s) sum, 184678 Impressions (000s) sum and 144703 Impressions (000s) sum.

Life OK and Big Magic interchanged their positions as ninth and tenth with 140845 Impressions (000s) sum and 124633 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

Hindi GEC Urban

Star Plus led the chart with 424511 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Colors on the second position with 369581 Impressions (000s) sum.

Zee TV registered its third slot with 299907 Impressions (000s) and Sab tv bagged the fourth spot with 265789 Impressions (000s) sum. Sony Entertainment Television maintained its fifth slot with 242549 Impressions (000s) sum.

Life OK, Sony Pal and Rishtey stood on sixth, seventh and eighth spot with 228046 Impressions (000) sum, 143186 Impressions (000) sum and 130921 Impressions (000) sum.

Star Utsav and &TV interchanged their positions as ninth and tenth with 109906 Impressions (000s) sum and 108539 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

Hamdard honours changemakers at Abdul Hameed awards

NEW DELHI: Hamdard Laboratories gathered a cross-section of India’s achievers in New Delhi on Friday, handing out the Hakeem Abdul Hameed Excellence Awards to figures who have left their mark across healthcare, education, sport, public service and the arts.

The ceremony, attended by minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth and senior officials from the ministry of Ayush, celebrated individuals whose work blends professional success with a sense of public purpose. It was as much a roll call of achievement as it was a reminder that influence is not measured only in profits or podiums, but in people reached and lives improved.

Among the headline awardees was Alakh Pandey, founder and chief executive of PhysicsWallah, recognised for turning affordable digital learning into a mass movement. On the sporting front, Arjuna Awardee and kabaddi player Sakshi Puniya was honoured for her contribution to the game and for pushing women’s participation onto bigger stages.

The cultural spotlight fell on veteran lyricist and poet Santosh Anand, whose songs have echoed across generations of Hindi cinema. At 97, Anand accepted the honour with characteristic humility, reflecting on a life shaped by perseverance and hope.

Healthcare honours spanned both modern and traditional systems. Manoj N. Nesari was recognised for strengthening Ayurveda’s place in national and global health frameworks. Padma shri Mohammed Abdul Waheed was honoured for his research-backed work in Unani medicine, while padma shri Mohsin Wali received recognition for his long-standing contribution to patient-centred care.

Education and social development also featured prominently. Padma shri Zahir Ishaq Kazi was honoured for decades of work in education, while former Meghalaya superintendent of Police T. C. Chacko was recognised for public service. Goonj founder Anshu Gupta received an award for his dignity-centred rural development initiatives, and the Hunar Shakti Foundation was honoured for empowering women and young girls through skill development.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to former IAS officer Shailaja Chandra for her long career in public healthcare and governance, particularly in the traditional systems under Ayush.

Speaking at the event, Hamdard chairman Abdul Majeed said the awards were a tribute to those who combine excellence with empathy. “These awardees reflect Hakeem Sahib’s belief that healthcare, education and public service must ultimately serve humanity,” he said.

Minister Seth struck a forward-looking note, saying India’s young population gives the country a unique opportunity to become a global destination for learning, health and wellness by 2047.

The ceremony also featured the trailer launch of Unani Ki Kahaani, an upcoming documentary starring actor Jim Sarbh, set to premiere on Discovery on 11 February.

Instituted in memory of Unani scholar and educationist Hakeem Abdul Hameed, the awards have grown into a national platform that celebrates those building a more inclusive and resilient India. For one evening at least, the spotlight was not just on success, but on service with substance.
