Expo to launch US TV’s first network on consumer info

MUMBAI: Expo Communications in the US has announced a multi-platform affiliation agreement with broadband firm Bresnan Communications for the rollout of Expo TV.

This is the first TV network in the US that is solely dedicated to helping consumers make informed purchasing decisions.

Expo TV’s 24/7 channel will be made available to most of Bresnan’s digital basic customers and Expo TV’s on-demand service will be made available to all video-on-demand enabled homes. Expo TV will offer a TV-based video catalogue, on a linear channel and on-demand, showcasing the best product demonstrations available. Expo TV will feature a lineup of merchandise and services covering categories from electronics and technology to beauty, fitness and entertainment. It empowers marketers to connect with a targeted audience.

Expo’s 24/7 linear TV channel will launch in the third quarter of 2005. It will guide viewers through a carefully programmed day. Information-rich series such as Plug and Play featuring home electronic products. Then there is Now
Boarding which covers the travel industry.

“These will be scheduled during prime time with more traditional direct marketing products during the daytime. Expo takes advantage of VOD’s interactive platform by offering consumer-friendly navigation in categories such as Get Fit, Home Improvement, Gifts For Him and Best Sellers.

Viewers can click to view constantly updated, quality products of interest to them at times most convenient for them. Expo also integrates important interactive services online at
www.expotv.com. The website provides community elements such as product ratings and reviews, consumer polls, and newsletters, as well as further product research support such as manufacturer and purchasing information. Expo states that the agreement reinforces the value proposition of Expo TV as a new growth engine for cable.
