Ex Amul chief RS Sodhi joins Reliance Retail

Mumbai: As per media reports, Reliance Retail has hired former MD of Amul’s RS Sodhi.

Sodhi is expected to assist Reliance Retail in developing its grocery vertical, particularly in the fruits and vegetables space, as well as its consumer brands segment. The company has been aggressively expanding its presence in the segment. It has recently launched a wide range of products, ranging from beverages under the Campa brand to home goods.

Sodhi stepped down as Gujarat Co-Operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd’s managing director in January after a long term of 31 years. During the pandemic, Amul launched over 100 stock-keeping units under Sodhi’s leadership.

For more than three decades, Sodhi worked under the direct guidance of Verghese Kurien, the father of the White Revolution. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in agri-engineering from CTAE, Udaipur, and he is among the first-batch alumni of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (Irma).
